  • HOT Morningland Chat

We don't get together to chat that often. But when we do, its HOT!

Sorry, I just had to say that. Chat rooms are kind of known for their sordid content. Ours however explores some of the more lofty aspects of the human experience than talking dirty. In fact, the chat room is a place where we can all talk to each other, via our computers in real time. Its like a big chalkboard and everyone has a piece of chalk so whatever any of us write, the others can see it immediately.

We've used this chat room for everything from organizing gatherings to bidding farewell to disciples who've passed away .

To enter a chat room you'll need a program that allows you to engage in IRC which means Internet Relay Chat. For those of you on PC, we suggest a program called "mIRC." It can be downloaded at http://mIRC.com. If you're using a Macintosh, try the IRCle program which can be downloaded from http://IRCle.com.

In the near future, we'll have a handy dandy package that you can download that will include the program that is already configured to our chat room's address. Won't that be nice? But for now, you'll need to know that the Morningland Chat room is located on the dal.net. So, the address will be "irc.dal.net" and once you're communicating with the dal.net servers you'll want to enter a room called "#Morningland".

Sounds simple until you try it. If you have no experience with IRC this may be a little daunting. Eventually, like I said, we'll upload the programs and instructions in a more step by step fashion which will make this process more simple.

Fact is, we don't use the IRC that much anyway, so you're not missing much, but for those times when it is important for all of us to get together at one time in one place.
