• I believe that Patricia and Daniel Sperato were both sociopathic con artists. I think the facts of their lives bear this out (bigamist, sexual exploitation of followers,lying, the list goes on and on). Frankly, anyone can grab a handful of very wise sayings and start throwing them around as some sort of wisdom. You could do this, I could do this. I believe if you research them you will find most of these “teachings” are not original.

  This particular “teaching” is in my view a particularly cynical bait and switch or misdirection con. It also does what all cults do and puts the onus on the devotee for success or failure. If you succeed it’s because you listened to the teacher and if you don’t it’s because you did not listen. The teacher is infallible. There is no question in my mind that Daniel Sperato knew he was an untrustworthy person so this is basically a predator toying with his prey.

  Great quote from Robert Lifton’s seminal work “they use good words to do bad things”. What did the Speratos ever contribute to the world, bad things.
